LSU safety Jamal Adams has garnered rave reviews all season and could parlay his abilities into a huge payday when the NFL draft rolls around. Executives at the professional level have been raving about his ability all season and some view him as a potential top ten selection.
In a recent piece on NFL.com, scouts revealed their thoughts on the defensive back.
According to one executive, Adams is a potential top ten pick.
From the report:
The scouting community has been pretty unanimous in its fondness for Adams in the conversations I’ve had with my sources in those circles. Just about everyone I’ve spoken to raves about his ability to support the run and his alpha leadership qualities, which are coveted on the back end of a defense. In fact, one NFL executive told my colleague, Daniel Jeremiah, that he expects Adams to be a top-10 pick. I will likely be one of those who points out some negatives for Adams because I still believe he has some holes in his game. While I would agree with the positive attributes previously stated, I question his ability to cover when matched against an NFL passing attack. I look forward to digging into the tape to sharpen my evaluation of him.
Adams was happy with the news.
Adams is coveted for his run-stopping abilities from the safety position and is said to posses great leadership qualities; highly valued at the back end of the defense. The 6-foot-1, 214 pound Texas native is only in his junior year, but in light of the attention he is receiving, it is unlikely he will return to the Tigers next season. His aggressive play has drawn comparisons to another great LSU defensive back, Tyrann Mathieu, who was affectionately called “The Honey Badger” in his time there.
If Adams is taken in the top ten in the upcoming draft, LSU could potentially have two selections in the top ten with running back Leonard Fournette being the other.
