Big Ten Network to air game in virtual reality on Saturday

The Big Ten Network is set to make history on Saturday night.

For this weekend’s clash between No. 21 Nebraska and Minnesota in Lincoln, the Big Ten Network will become the first college sports network to air a football game in virtual reality as part of a partnership with VR company VOKE.

From the release:

“We’re always exploring ways to integrate new technology into the Big Ten fan experience,” Big Ten Network Vice President of Digital Media and Programming Michael Calderon told BTN.com. “We see virtual reality and our partnership with VOKE as an opportunity to provide Big Ten fans a unique way to watch their favorite team from a whole new perspective.”

To watch the game, simply download VOKE’s GearVR app and watch the BTN channel on your Gear VR headset and Samsung phone. The future is here, ladies and gentlemen.

Kickoff between Nebraska and Minnesota is set for 7:30 p.m. ET on Saturday night.
