Ole Miss fans are going to get a close look at their future on Saturday when the Rebels travel to take on Texas A&M in College Station. Reports surfaced on Friday that five-star quarterback Shea Patterson, who was redshirted to start the year, will have his redshirt dropped.
As a result, the No. 1 pro-style quarterback in the Class of 2016 is set to play against the Aggies.
The news comes after former starting quarterback Chad Kelly was lost for the season with a torn ACL.
Bleacher Report’s Barrett Sallee was first to report the news.
There is no word on whether Patterson is set to start, but if the Rebels are burning his redshirt this late in the season, they must see some value in getting him reps and prepared for next year.
Kickoff between Ole Miss and Texas A&M is set for 7:30 p.m. ET on the SEC Network.
