On Tuesday night, the NHL’s Las Vegas expansion team unveiled its new logo and nickname, the Golden Knights.
The team name is a tribute to owner Bill Foley’s alma mater, the U.S. Military Academy at West Point. Foley initially wanted to name the team the Black Knights, but received pushback and ultimately settled on the Golden Knights.
Unfortunately for UCF, which changed its name from the Golden Knights to Knights in 2007, the new NHL franchise was a reminder of their former nickname.
And as soon as the NHL’s announcement was made, UCF was quick to remind everyone exactly what their name is.
Soooo how was everyone's Tuesday night? Anyone else get called an old nickname a bunch of times?

UCF even changed its name to “Not Golden Knights” and updated their bio.
We’re glad that’s settled.
Enjoy the nickname, Las Vegas.
