Western Michigan holds off Ohio to claim MAC Championship

They are rowing the boat in Kalamazoo, Michigan tonight.

Despite a late threat from the Ohio Bobcats, the Western Michigan Broncos were able to snag a late-game interception to secure a 29-23 win in the MAC Championship Game.

The win gives Western Michigan a 13-0 record to end the regular season, while earning the program its first conference title since 1988. The win came in front of a MAC Championship record crowd.

Western Michigan outperformed Ohio in every aspect of the game.

With the big win, the Broncos should have solidified their spot in the Cotton Bowl against a Power Five team, but they could still be leapfrogged by Navy for the Group of Five berth.

Congratulations to Western Michigan on an incredible season. It’s going to be fun to watch them against one of the nation’s elite programs during the bowl season.
