The College Football Playoff field is set, with No. 1 Alabama vs. No. 4 Washington and No. 2 Clemson vs. No. 3 Ohio State playing in the national semifinals.
Many believe Alabama will be able to roll through the competition en route to another national championship, but who could be their toughest test?
According to ESPN analyst Kirk Herbstreit that would be Clemson.
Herbstreit shared his thoughts during an appearance on Mike & Mike this morning.
“You have to say Clemson,” Herbstreit said, via 247 Sports. “Clemson’s been that team all year. Preseason I picked Clemson to beat Alabama in the national championship. It had everything to do with their quarterback, the playmakers he has around them and the defense that has played, for the most part, pretty well this year. With that being said, Ohio State has a chance athletically to match up with Clemson and give them very good game.
“If Clemson is hitting on all cylinders and playing the way they’re capable of playing, I think they’re capable of playing with Alabama. The thing that makes me very, very confused with Clemson is at times they look like they can move the ball on anybody and other times, they’re very erratic and they turn the ball over.”
Clemson is currently an underdog against Ohio State, so they will already have their work cut out for them.
However, if they are able to get past the Buckeyes, we should be set up for a national title rematch between two very deserving teams.
