Todd Orlando expected to join Tom Herman’s Texas staff

It looks like one of Tom Herman’s top assistants will be joining his staff at Texas.

After missing out on the Houston head coaching job to offensive coordinator Major Applewhite, Cougars defensive coordinator Todd Orlando is expected to follow Herman to Austin.

“I think he’s destined for Austin,” Houston athletic director Hunter Yurachek said, via the American-Statesman. “He’s probably moving on.”

Houston System Board of Regents chairman Tilman Fertitta had much of the same to suggest.

“It’s probably known out there that Todd’s probably going to go join Tom Herman at the University of Texas,” Fertitta said. “I don’t know if he’s officially told us. But I interviewed him, and Todd’s not going to stay.”

The biggest question for Herman’s staff will now be at offensive coordinar with Applewhite remaining at Houston.
