The Tom Herman era is officially underway in Austin as the Texas football program landed its first commitment since hiring the former Houston coach.
Over the weekend, Mississippi Gulf Coast C.C. Bulldogs kicker Josh Rowland announced he would officially be joining the Longhorns’ Class of 2017, a welcome addition to Herman’s squad.
Rowland announced his commitment on social media late Sunday night.
Well it's been a long time coming but I have committed to the University of Texas! Beyond blessed to have this opportunity! #HookEm🤘🏼 pic.twitter.com/DvhFNAXkZZ

Herman still has plenty of work to do to get Texas’ recruiting class up to par with some of his Big 12 rivals, but landing your first recruit at a new gig is exactly what you need to get the ball rolling.
