Texas football: 4-star RB Toneil Carter picks Longhorns

Toneil Carter, who on Monday announced that he was rescinding his commitment to the University of Georgia, has now committed to joining the Texas Longhorns.

Carter, who is currently graded as the No. 10 running back in the country, decommitted amid concerns over playing time at Georgia.

Kirby Smart, coach of the Georgia Bulldogs might have expected something of the sort to happen after running backs Sony Michel and Nick Chubb both announced their intent to return to the program next season.

With the logjam at the top of the backfield depth chart, Carter decided to take his talents elsewhere.

Toneil will get a fresh shake with a brand new coaching staff at Texas.

The 5-foot-11 back joins a class that has not resembled the kind of recruiting dominance the Longhorns have grown accustomed to. With his signing, though, they jump from 46th overall to 33rd overall in class rankings.
