Baylor’s Shock Linwood to skip bowl game to focus on NFL Draft prep

Baylor running back Shock Linwood is the latest player to announce he will be skipping his team’s bowl game to look out for No. 1.

On Tuesday, a Baylor spokesperson confirmed Linwood would be skipping the team’s Motel 6 Cactus Bowl matchup against Boise State on Dec. 27 to focus on his preparations for the NFL Draft.

Linwood becomes the third running back in recent days to announce he would skip the bowl game, joining LSU’s Leonard Fournette and Stanford’s Christian McCaffrey.

The 5-foot-9, 200-pound senior finishes his career at Baylor as the all-time leading rusher in school history with 4,213 yards, he also recorded 36 touchdowns.

This season was less than stellar for Linwood, however, as he carried the ball just 138 times for 751 yards and two scores.

Kickoff between Baylor and Boise State in the Cactus Bowl is set for 10:15 p.m. ET at Chase Field in Phoenix, Arizona on ESPN.
