Video: Florida State mascot gets thrown off horse before game

Florida State mascot Chief Osceola had a rough start to the Orange Bowl.

While riding his horse, Renegade, on the field before performing the tradition of planting his spear in the center of the field, Chief Osceola was thrown from the horse as he and Renegade tumbled to the ground.

It looks like someone wasn’t ready for the wild atmosphere at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami.

Check out the video below, via ESPN’s Danny Kanell:

The Seminoles better hope their team is ready for a better performance.

Luckily for Florida State, Chief Osceola’s mishap hasn’t rubbed off on the players. The No. 10 Seminoles currently lead No. 6 Michigan, 17-3, with the first quarter winding down.
