Norman North point guard Trae Young has been asked to pick out of a stack letterhead papers from the top universities in the country. A consensus five-star prospect, Young currently holds offers from Kansas, Kentucky, Florida, Arizona State, Duke, and countless others. The world is his oyster, and he has set a date in which one program will pump its fist and all others will feel like they missed out.
On February 16th, Young will announce where he will play basketball at the highest collegiate level. A native of Norman, Oklahoma, the Sooners stand as good a chance as any of the power programs to land Young later this month. However, his father recently took to twitter and criticized local media coverage, citing its constant scrutiny as potential reason why Young will choose to go elsewhere.
Ray Young has since deleted the tweet off of his personal twitter.
Kentucky is deep at point guard, and Young is likely looking for a situation where he can play immediately. Kansas and Oklahoma currently stand as the favorites, though Oklahoma State and Texas Tech also hosted Young on official visits during his recruitment. All these programs can do is wait and see.
You know you’ve got talent when you can announce that you’ll be announcing something and it’s news.
