Peter Berg, Director of ‘Friday Night Lights’ has another football show

Looking to build upon the success of Friday Night Lights, Peter Berg has another show about high school football. There’s something to be said for stick to what you know. This show, however, titled QB1: Beyond the Lights, is a 10 part documentary series.

Here is the official trailer:

Programs like these are compelling to different audiences for different reasons. If you spent your high school years playing competitive sports, you can relate to the struggles the protagonists will endure. If not, it gives you an opportunity to peek into another world and see the immense amount of pressure put on these young men.

The series will follow three high school quarterbacks, Jake Fromm, Tate Martell, and Tayvon Bowers, as they juggle leading a football team and the tail end of their adolescence. The program will likely compete for the same audience as the Netflix Original Series Last Chance U, as their subject matter is similar in many ways.

Fromm has committed to Georgia.

Martell is committed to Ohio State.

Tayvon Bowers will be attending Wake Forest.

The program will premier on February 15th on Go90.com
