Former Texas A&M star Myles Garrett is projected to be the No. 1 overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft.
However, despite the possibility that he will be the first player off the board, he will not be in attendance for the event in Philadelphia. And don’t try to change his mind, either.
According to Brent Zwerneman of the Houston Chronicle, Garrett will watch the draft at home in Arlington to enjoy the moment with his family.
That sounds like a much better option than an awkward hug with NFL commissioner Roger Goodell.

Garrett said nothing will change his mind on this, he wants to watch NFL draft with his parents and family in his home. https://t.co/yYsFgU3Gyl

You can’t blame a young man for wanting to enjoy this moment with his family before his life changes forever and he flies off for months of minicamps, OTAs and training camp. Not to mention the immediate obligatory press conferences to introduce him to his new fan base and the local media.
