Johnny Manziel Returns To Texas A&M For Training

Johnny Manziel appears to be taking every possible step toward making a return to the NFL.

With his legal troubles apparently behind him, and his days of partying allegedly behind him as well, he has begun training in an attempt to get back into the NFL.

Manziel posted on his Instagram that he was retiring to his alma mater to “get back to basics.”

Manziel was nothing short of a rock star while in college, but excessive partying and an assault charge against his ex-girlfriend derailed his career. After numerous attempts from the Browns organization and his agent to get him help, he was dropped by both.

It appears to be the year to try and get back into the NFL. Earlier this offseason former Texas quarterback Vince Young announced that he would like to make a return to the NFL. If Manziel is slightly behind the eight-ball in terms of condition after having sat out a year in the NFL, Young is behind the entire pool-table. He last played in 2011.

Even if Manziel is able to prove that he is healthy and stable and ready to play in the NFL, is there a team currently in need of his services? He’ll sign somewhere, that’s nearly assured, but how much playing time will he get is a difficult question to answer. Even when given the opportunity while in Cleveland, Manziel struggled with consistency and overcoming the “run-first” mentality that made him a star in college.
