If Joe Mixon would have participated in the 2017 NFL Scouting Combine, he would have been one of the fastest running backs in Indianapolis.
On Wednesday, Mixon worked out for NFL scouts during the Oklahoma Sooners Pro Day.
Mixon registered a time of 4.43 seconds in the 40-yard dash — which would have been the fourth fastest time for running backs at this year’s NFL Combine — while adding an impressive 35-inch vertical leap.
Of course, Mixon was not allowed to attend the combine due to a new rule that prohibits players who have previously had convictions of violence or use of a weapon, domestic violence, a sexual offense and/or sexual assault from participating.
Mixon is widely regarded as one of the most talented running back prospects in this year’s draft, but some teams are scared off due to his off-field issues.
Those issues will certainly keep Mixon out of the first round of the 2017 NFL Draft and others believe it could move him out of the draft altogether. Whether that proves to be true remains to be seen.
The 2017 NFL Draft will be held in Philadelphia from April 27 through April 29.
