2017 NFL Preseason Schedule Released

Now we know who will be playing who when we aren’t watching. The NFL released the full list schedules for each team throughout the preseason. It comes with about as much intrigue as the preseason schedule can, with several key matchups in what is widely regarded as the most competitive week, week three.

Much of the preseason is comprised of watching guys who you know won’t be on the team, who the coaches know won’t be on the team, and to an extent who themselves know they aren’t going to be on the team, but nobody talks about it out loud and there is an effort to imbue the games with a semblance of meaning. Weeks 1 and 2 are largely auditions for all 32 teams around the league who might be in the market for a plug or band-aid or security blanket at a particular spot.

By week 4, many of the teams are resting their starters and know the 53 guys they are taking into the regular season.

That leaves week three as the week when the starters get the most work. They are the most competitive spring training games and provide the most accurate depiction of what the actual team will look like in the regular season.

With the NFL draft set to take place later this month, there will be a number of highly anticipate rookies and those trying to latch on to a team competing on an even playing field.

Who will emerge as a wunderkind? Who will fail to live up to their top billing as a game changing playmaker? It all starts in the preseason.
