UGA football coach Kirby Smart is looking forward to his second year leading the Bulldogs.
While his debut season had its ups and downs en route to an 8-5 finish, Smart believes his team is finally gelling and should be poised for success in 2017.
Specifically, Smart says his players and coaches have more chemistry and are in a much better place than a year ago.
“This team, this group is sold on what our staff and what myself believe in,” Smart told Edward Aschoff of ESPN. “We’re in a better place. I like this team a lot better, too.”
The Bulldogs went through their growing pains on offense with freshman quarterback Jacob Eason, but with another year under his belt he looks ready to show more poise leading the offense.
It will help to have star running backs Nick Chubb and Sony Michel returning as well, along with some top offensive line recruits.
Georgia opens its 2017 campaign on Saturday, Sept. 2 against Appalachian State.
