Former Victoria Secret model Karlie Kloss thought she’d landed financial stability for the rest of 2017 when she signed on to represent Carolina Herrera’s new scent, “Good Girl.”
What she ended up with, though, was something of a minor internet controversy.
Due to the numerous instances of people mistaking the perfume bottle for a dildo, the add was pulled ultimately by Carolina Herrera.
The bottle is supposed to resemble the shape of a stiletto heel. When describing the design of the perfume bottle, Carolina Herrera had this to say:
“I wanted an object of feminine power. All women, every single one of us, have this duality. We’re not just one-note, or have one talent, or one personality. I wanted to use the shape of the bottle to represent and empower women.”
That was, of course, before the design sparked an overwhelming response contrariety to the original intention.
Whether Kloss will continue her relationship with Carolina Herrera and the fragrance will likely hinge on the redesign of the bottle. At first glance, it does appear that she is holding something remarkably similar to the design of a sex toy. The fact that they don’t specifically mention that they’re advertising a perfume doesn’t help either.
What’s with the cars crashing into each other?
Sometimes ambiguity can help create a buzz around a product and help it sell better. Other times, it causes the public to think you’re selling something like a dildo. this time, it was the latter.
