North Carolina Teen With Cerebral Palsy Gets The Surprise Of A Lifetime

Christian Heavner is a New York Yankees fan who is finally seeing his dream of watching them play at Yankee Stadium realized.

Living in North Carolina with cerebral palsy, Heavner was the recipient of the VIP treatment by his peers at Casabarrus High School. ABC affiliate WSOC-TV in Charlotte, North Carolina first reported the event locally.

A group of students called the Junior Dream Team raised nearly $10,000 to give Heavner this unforgettable experience.

Complete with a limousine and police escort, Heavner also got to meet Carolina Panthers safety Kurt Coleman, who gave him a surprise of his own.

“This is my shirt and I signed it, and I want you to know you’re amazing every single day,” Coleman told Heavner

Before his send off to New York City to watch the Bronx Bombers, Heavner got one final surprise: a helicopter ride from the school to the airport. The Yankees are the hottest team in baseball right now, and the chance to Aaron Judge launch a ball 450 ft. into the stands would be the icing on the cake.

“Thank you to all for the dream”, Heavner said. “We have the best school in North Carolina.”
