Kara McCullough is your Miss USA 2017.
On Sunday night, the 25-year-old Miss District of Columbia USA 2017 was crowned the winner of the annual beauty pageant and she will now go on to represent the United States at the Miss Universe pageant later this year.
McCullough beat out runners up Miss New Jersey and Miss Minnesota for the title.
As a child, McCullough lived all over the world. Her father was a member of the Marine Corps and she was born in Naples, Italy. She has lived in other countries like South Korea and Japan as well before settling in the United States.
McCullough attended South Carolina State University and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry with a concentration in radiochemistry.
She is currently a nuclear chemist for the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission.
It marks the second consecutive year that Miss District of Columbia USA was winner of the Miss USA pageant.
