Roy Nelson To Make Bellator Debut At Bellator 183 In September

Roy Nelson’s Bellator MMA debut is finally set.

On Saturday night following Bellator NYC at Madison Square Garden, Bellator announced Nelson’s promotional debut is set for Bellator 183 on September 23.

The event will take place at the SAP Center in San Jose, Calif.

Nelson’s Bellator debut will come against Javy Ayala, who most recently scored a knockout victory over Sergei Kharitonov at Bellator 163 in just 16 seconds. Nelson’s last appearance came in the UFC where he suffered a unanimous decision loss to Alexander Volkov in April.

Along with Nelson’s debut, former UFC champion Benson Henderson will be returning to the cage against Patricky Freire.

Henderson has not fought since November of last year, a split-decision loss to Michael Chandler. It will be Henderson’s fourth appearance under the Bellator banner.
