The Florida baseball team finished off the LSU Tigers in a best-of-three series.
After winning the first game of the series, Florida needed to win only one of the next two games to secure their first ever championship. They didn’t want to take any chances.
They beat Florida in consecutive games. Powered by one of the best pitching staffs in all of college baseball, the Gators clung to a one-run lead for most of the game. Playing fundamental baseball, they managed to erase several potential tying and go-ahead runs for the Tigers throughout the game.
A four-run outburst in the bottom of the eight inning secured the victory. LSU Tigers fans could be seen pouring up and down the isles trying to beat traffic. And then — raucous jubilation on the part of the Florida Gators baseball team.

It marks the first championship in the programs history.
A remarkable statistic considering the wealth of talent that UF has filtered into the Major Leagues. Just this season, pitcher Alex Faedo was selected in the first round of the MLB Draft. He couldn’t have dreamed of a better way to end his college career.
