Yoshihiro Takayama is a wrestling legend in Japan, having won the Triple Crown, IWGP and GHC heavyweight championships throughout his storied career.
Unfortunately, that career has now come to an end after a freak accident earlier this year.
According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer, Takayama was paralyzed from the neck down after a botched spot earlier this year. Takayama was going for a sunset flip when the freak accident occurred.
Very saddened to learn of this news. A Warrior and a Gentlemen. My thought and best wishes to him during his recovery. https://t.co/upLgNk8tdh

Along with his storied wrestling career, Takayama also holds a spot in mixed martial arts history.
During his brief time in MMA, Takayama was involved in one of the wildest brawls the sport has ever seen when he faced off against UFC Hall of Famer Don Frye in PRIDE.
