National Nightmare Over: Butch Jones Fired As Vols Coach

Butch Jones has been fired as Tennessee football coach, and finally Vols Nation’s national nightmare is over.
The writing has been on the wall all season that Jones would be ousted following the season, but Saturday’s 50-17 loss to the Missouri Tigers was the icing on the cake.
During his five seasons leading the Vols, Jones had eight embarrassing losses by 30-points or more. It took ex-Tennessee coaches Derek Dooley, Lane Kiffin and Phillip Fulmer twenty seasons combined for the Vols to suffer the same amount of 30-point defeats.
Bruce Feldman of FOX Sports broke the news on Sunday morning, shortly after Jones announced the news to his coaching staff.

The obvious question now is: Who will replace Butch Jones?
It’s going to be interesting to see where the Vols coaching search leads, but you can be sure the name Jon Gruden will once again be involved in the coaching rumors.
Tennessee currently sits at 4-6, with an 0-6 record in SEC play.
