2018 College Football National Championship Ticket Prices Could Reach Record Highs

The College Football Playoff National Championship Game is an SEC affair with the Alabama Crimson Tide and Georgia Bulldogs set to do battle at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta.
With the game in Georgia’s backyard and Atlanta in the heart of SEC Country and host of the conference championship game, there is a high demand for tickets.
In fact, UGA fans crashed the StubHub website shortly after their epic double-overtime win over Oklahoma in the Rose Bowl.
Once the site came back up, the cheapest ticket was a whopping $2,480.
More from ESPN’s Darren Rovell:

StubHub’s average paid price on its site through Tuesday morning was $2,243. If that price holds, it will be one of the most expensive title games ever, topping the 2013 BCS title game between Alabama and Notre Dame by more than $600 a ticket ($1,640).
In late November, prices for the title game on resale sites were hovering around $1,200 for any fan who wanted to take a chance. That number jumped by at least 20 percent on Dec. 2 after Georgia beat Alabama in the SEC championship.

It’s going to be a wild atmosphere.
Kickoff between the No. 4 Crimson Tide and No. 3 Bulldogs is set for 8:00 p.m. ET on ESPN.
