Billy Donlon fired from Wright State after six seasons

The Wright State Raiders had a pretty successful 2015-16 seasons as they finished the season 22-13 and just missed making the NCAA Tournament. Because of that, they decided to part ways with six-year head coach Billy Donlon.

The Raiders were tied for second in the Horizon League this year and advanced the final of the conference tournament, where they fell to the Green Bay Phoenix. Donlon was let go on Wednesday after what was arguably his most successful season in his six years with the team.

In three of his six seasons with the Raiders, Donlon led the team to 20-plus wins on the year. Three of the last four seasons, he had his team in the Horizon League tournament championship game and even advanced to the CBI in 2013 and CIT in 2014.

The Raiders have only made the tournament twice in team history, with their last appearance coming in 2007. Donlon leaves the school with a 109-93 record as he achieved his 100th win with the team earlier this year.
