Caleb Wilson follows father from USC to UCLA

When former USC defensive line coach Chris Wilson was not retained by new head coach Clay Helton, he decided to stay in town and head over to the Trojans’ biggest rival. He was named to the same position at UCLA, just adding more fuel to the already blazing fire rivalry between the two teams.

Now, you can add the last few drops from the gasoline canister to that fire.

Caleb Wilson, Chris’s son, was a walk-on tight end with the Trojans in 2015. He followed his dad to UCLA and it looks like he will be put on scholarship with the Bruins.

According to the Los Angeles Daily News, Wilson will not be subject to any kind of ruling that states he must give up an extra year of eligibility.

“Because he was not a scholarship player with the Trojans, Wilson is not subject to the Pac-12 rule dictating that intra-conference transfers must sit out a year and lose an additional year of eligibility.”

Wilson didn’t record any stats with the Trojans in 2015 as a true freshman. However, he should be able to learn underneath Jim Mora and be ready to come on and make an impact in 2017 after he takes a redshirt and sits out the 2016 season.
