Christian Bell becomes fourth to transfer from Alabama

The Alabama Crimson Tide have had an unusual amount of players leave this offseason and it wasn’t to head to the NFL, but to transfer to continue their careers elsewhere.

Linebacker Christian Bell is the latest, announcing he would be seeking a transfer out of Tuscaloosa.

Bell becomes the fourth player to request a transfer from Alabama this year, joining fellow defensive players Shawn Burgess-Becker, Maurice Smith and Adonis Thomas. The reason for his transfer is unclear, but it is likely due to younger outside linebackers joining the team and pushing him down the depth chart.

AL.com seemed to have a good idea of why Bell, a three-star 2015 signee out of Hoover, Alabama, decided to leave the school.

Alabama is very deep at outside linebacker and has several other young outside linebackers who were higher-rated recruits than Bell and were ahead of Bell on the depth chart.”

Christian Bell took a grayshirt for the 2015 season, enrolling in classes while still playing a role on the team’s practice squad. He will likely be able to play immediately wherever he ends up this year and would have all of his eligibility left.
