Clemson WR Charone Peake says Tigers ‘dominated’ Alabama

Alabama dominated Clemson in the national championship game earlier this month, especially in the second half, but Tigers wideout Charone Peake seems to think the opposite.

Speaking to reporters at Senior Bowl practices, including Michael Casagrande of AL.com, Peake further elaborated.

“We felt like we dominated the game,” Peake said. “Those couple two or three plays took over and kinda overshadowed our play. The scoreboard didn’t show it but I felt like we dominated the game.”

Peake’s words are a bit off, but not entirely untrue. Clemson gave Alabama a fight from start to finish and were it not for an oddly-timed onside kick, a 95-yard kickoff return by Kenyan Drake and the sudden emergence of tight end O.J. Howard, who entered the game with just 33 catches for 394 yards before exploding for five catches for 208 yards and two scores, the Tigers definitely could have won the game, especially given how the score was tied at 14 at halftime.

But though Clemson did play well, to say that the Tigers dominated the game is a bit much. They may have dominated the first half and had a never-say-die attitude from start to finish, but Alabama took control in the second half and as anyone who knows football will tell you, that is the part of the game that arguably matters most.

Sorry, Charone, but you’re a little off here.
