Defensive end Eli Howard is transferring from North Texas to Texas Tech, according to a tweet from his mother, Sabrina.

Originally from the Dallas area, Howard took a redshirt as a true freshman and will seek to join the Red Raiders as a walk-on. He heads to Lubbock not long after Mean Green defensive line coach Kevin Patrick took the same job under Kliff Kingsbury at Texas Tech.
Granted, we won’t see Howard suit up for a year, but he could definitely become an impact player on a defense-needy team down the stretch.
