Former Yale captain Jack Montague sues over expulsion

Former Yale basketball captain Jack Montague was expelled from the school after a sexual misconduct case a year and a half ago. However, he doesn’t believe he has been treated correctly in the ordeal as he has filed a civil lawsuit against Yale.

Montague was expelled in February and his lawsuit says that Yale made him their “poster boy for tough enforcement of its Sexual Misconduct Policies.” He believes their harsh punishment was a result of the school came under criticism from the Department of Education for its response to sexual assault allegations.

The expulsion comes after an incident in October 2014 where a female student claims they had nonconsensual sex. Montague claims that it was consensual and that it was one of many encounters they had in the past.

Jack Montague was expelled from the school months before he was slated to graduate and before he was to lead the Bulldogs back to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 1962.
