Iowa State football now introducing new uniform ideas

Let’s face it, the Iowa Cyclones uniforms have remained unchanged and dull for quite some time now. Other than the occasional mixing of jersey and and pants colors, the Cyclones have worn basically the same thing every game – which is disappointing considering several schools like Oregon and Oklahoma State seem to be wearing something new every week.

Iowa has defended their uniforms in the past, claiming that they wanted maintain “tradition” and “build a brand.” But these excuses are meaningless, and many are wanting to see a change in the Cyclones’ get-ups.

And now they’ve finally gotten what they’ve asked for.

Perhaps in an effort to get fans more involved and get potential prospects excited to play football for the institution, new head coach Matt Campbell and the rest of his staff are exploring alternate uniform ideas.

Cyclone Football recently tweeted this photo, showcasing the newest addition to the Iowa State uniforms – a white helmet.

A uniform change may not seem like much, but when you think about it more in-depth, the impact may go deeper than you believe. To a young, top high school recruit, uniforms may be high on the priority list. They’re an attractive aspect for Iowa State and something to be considered when you have a ton of programs to choose from.

Could better uniforms really equal better players in the long term? The idea itself sounds preposterous, but may actually hold some truth.
