Jerrod Heard shoulder injury ‘not serious’

The Texas Longhorns thought that they had suffered a big blow to their offense when quarterback Jerrod Heard went down with an apparent shoulder injury during practice on Tuesday. Luckily for the team, the injury doesn’t seem to be as bad as they originally believed it to be.

The Longhorns ran tests on Heard’s shoulder on Wednesday and then confirmed Thursday morning that the injury wasn’t one for them to be very concerned about.

This is very good news for the Longhorns as Heard has been competing for the starting job with Tyrone Swoopes since the 2015 season. Right now, Heard was expected to win the job by the end of the spring.

During his true freshman season, Jerrod Heard split time with Swoopes. He threw for 1,214 yards and five touchdowns against five interceptions, while rushing for 561 yards and three touchdowns.
