Jerry Kill joins Kansas State in non-coaching role

During the 2015 college football season, Jerry Kill stepped down from his role as Minnesota head coach due to health concerns. Nearly seven months later, he is back in the game of football in a slightly different role as his last.

It was reported on Tuesday that Kill has accepted a role with the Kansas State Wildcats as their associate athletic director of administration, working under AD John Currie. The school said Kill would be “a member of Currie’s senior departmental staff and serve as chief administrator for the K-State football program.”

Jerry Kill spent a little more than four seasons with the Golden Gophers and went 29-29 in that stretch. He boasts a lifetime record of 152-99 in a career that saw him spend time at Northern Illinois, Southern Illinois, Emporia State and Saginaw Valley State.

Some believe that his role with the Wildcats might see him take over for Bill Snyder as head coach when he finally decides to step down. However, ESPN’s Brett McMurphy reported that he is, in fact, “not a coach in waiting.”
