Kendell Beckwith expected back for spring training

The LSU Tigers had a pretty scary incident earlier this week when leading linebacker Kendell Beckwith went down with a non-contact knee injury. Fans everywhere took a collective gasp as it looked like their star player could be lost for his senior season after opting to return instead of entering the Draft.

Beckwith had an MRI and the team announced that it was negative for any kind of structural damage. This is good news for him and the Tigers and head coach Les Miles took it a step further on Saturday by saying he should be back pretty soon.

“It’s going to be nip-and-tuck, day-to-day, just never know,” Miles told the New Orleans Times-Picayune. “Yeah, he’s going to return.”

Beckwith was expected to be a Day 2 pick in the 2016 NFL Draft before he and cornerback Tre’Davious White decided to return to school for their senior season. It was a big move for the Tigers as they are now looking to be even more dangerous competing in the SEC West in 2016.

During the 2015 season, Kendell Beckwith was second on the team with 73 tackles and added on 10 for loss and 3.5 sacks. He should be a key piece in the team’s success this season and now Tiger fans can exhale for a little while longer.
