Kris Dunn hires agent, declares for NBA Draft

Providence guard Kris Dunn has been one of the best players in the country this year and was a candidate for the John Wooden Award for most of the season. It shouldn’t come a surprise, but he will be entering the NBA Draft this summer.

ESPN’s Jeff Goodman confirmed the news on Twitter Tuesday afternoon. Dunn spoke with Goodman and said that he really has no regrets about leaving school early and that he has to do what is best for his family.

“None,” Dunn said. “I’m happy with it — and my family is happy.”

Dunn averaged 16.4 points, 6.3 assists, and 5.3 rebounds per game this season and nearly led the Friars to an upset win over the No. 1 seeded North Carolina Tar Heels in the Round of 32 last weekend. He was named the Big East Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year.

Kris Dunn said that he considered coming back to get his degree, but he feels like the NBA is too much to pass up on right now.

“I wanted to come back, get my degree and made the NCAA tournament,” Dunn said. “I also felt like I improved my outside shot, even though it still needs work, cut down on my turnovers and became a better leader.”

He is expected to be a top ten lottery pick in June’s Draft as of right now.
