Marcus Lattimore to begin coaching career at HS level

Marcus Lattimore is one of the best running backs to ever play for the South Carolina Gamecocks, but his career was cut short due to a devastating knee injury during his junior season. He was never able to recover from it and he decided to return to school, get his degree, and begin a coaching career.

The NCAA ruled that he wasn’t eligible to continue his role running camps and being paid for it with the Gamecocks. They stated that it was an “unfair recruiting advantage” and that he would have to be in an actual coaching position to stay with the team, a ruling that Lattimore was completely okay with it.

“The NCAA ruling is fair and I will fully comply,” Lattimore said in a statement.

Now, after obtaining his degree in Public Health, Lattimore will begin his coaching career at the high school level. He reportedly accepting a position as an offensive assistant at Heathwood Hall Episcopal School in Columbia, just minutes from his Alma Mater.

Marcus Lattimore will certainly end up being a big part in many of the high school athletes’ careers as he will be able to give them great tips on what it takes to play at the next level and to come back from a big injury.
