Memphis adds future games with North Texas, South Alabama

The Memphis Tigers announced they would be renewing their rivalry with the Arkansas State Red Wolves in 2020 over the weekend. Now, they are back at it again by announcing future matchups with two out-of-conference opponents.

The school announced that they would be facing off against the South Alabama Jaguars and North Texas Mean Green in future home-and-home series. They will face the former in 2018 and 2019 and the latter in 2022 and 2023.

They will take on the Jaguars at home in their first meeting and then on the road for their second. This will be the first meeting between the two teams. The Mean Green and Tigers have met 19 times previously in the past, but have only played once since 1980 in 2003.

Memphis holds a 16-3 edge in their series.

The Tigers have gone 19-6 the last two seasons, but will be without start quarterback Paxton Lynch, who moved on to the NFL, and head coach Justin Fuente, who took the Virginia Tech vacancy.

However, they certainly look to be on the right track to compete in the AAC once again this year.
