Minnesota using gold brick pride stickers in 2016

The Minnesota Golden Gophers are looking to get into competition in the Big Ten this year with new head coach Tracy Claeys at the helm. One way to do that is reward the players who do not usually get the recognition and they are doing that with their new, intriguing helmet stickers.

Claeys announced on Monday that the team is currently designing gold brick helmet stickers to reward players for making impacts on big plays during the 2016 season. The Star Tribune‘s Joe Christensen reported the news Monday morning and said that the stickers will not be very large as to not take over the helmet itself.

“Claeys said a couple months ago that the team was thinking about adding the stickers. The staff is currently looking at designs for the gold bricks. He said the bricks might even be smaller than the bones the Georgia Bulldogs put on the back of their helmets,” Christensen wrote.

Minnesota has made four consecutive bowl games and the team won the Quick Lane Bowl over Central Michigan in December. It certainly looks like this team is trying to turn things around this year and a change with the new helmet stickers could be a good way to do so.
