NFL Draft 2016: Karl Joseph is the best overall DB?

In the 2016 NFL Draft class, Florida State’s Jalen Ramsey and Vernon Hargreaves III of Florida are widely viewed as the top defensive backs. However, one analyst, ESPN’s Louis Riddick, is going against the grain.

Riddick, who spent nearly a decade as a defensive back in the NFL, sent his praise towards West Virginia Mountaineers defensive back Karl Joseph.

According to Riddick, Joseph is the best overall defensive back in this year’s draft. Riddick believes that Joseph has it all because he is  “versatile, competitive, run support, blitz, tackle, zone pattern recognition, man skills, ball skills.”

That’s quite the praise.

Karl Joseph has been a standout throughout the draft season, so Riddick may not be too far off in his analysis.

Were it not for injuries throughout his final season at West Virginia, we could very well be looking at a player who was in the discussion as one of his position’s elite.
