Notre Dame TE Chase Hounshell transferring to Ohio State

The Ohio State Buckeyes lost tight end Nick Vannett to the NFL and they will be looking for his replacement going into the 2016 season. It looks like they could be getting just that as Notre Dame’s Chase Hounshell will transfer to Columbus for his final season of eligibility.

The tight end, who will be a senior, announced his intentions to obtain his degree and transfer to the Buckeyes for the 2016 season. He was sure to thank the Fighting Irish for all they gave him in his three years in South Bend.

Chase Hounshell made the transition from defensive line to tight end last season and played in 12 games for the Fighting Irish in place of the injured Durham Smythe. He only recorded one catch six yards, but he could end up being a big piece for their offensive line and possibly in the passing game.

Hounshell will be eligible to play immediately for the Buckeyes in the fall. Vannett was a great player for the team during his three seasons and he will be tough to replace, but Hounshell will give them some kind of confidence going forward this year.
