Oklahoma KR Alex Ross seeking graduate transfer

The Oklahoma Sooners are looking to be one of the better teams in the college football world this year, but they will be losing one of the better special teams players in the country. Alex Ross announced his intentions to transfer for the 2016 season.

Ross is seeking a graduate transfer, which means he will eligible to play immediately this year no matter where he ends up. His decision to transfer makes a lot of sense with both running backs, Joe Mixon and Samaje Perine, returning this year.

Ross saw his production on the offensive side of the ball diminish because of the duo as well as quarterback Baker Mayfield’s presence.

“Alex has been a great teammate and team guy for four years for us, and we’ve always been proud of him,” OU head coach Bob Stoops said in a statement. “This is an opportunity for him to go somewhere else and play full time. We wish him the best.”

Alex Ross ranks third in Oklahoma history with a 25.7 yard return average and would have broke the all-time record for return yardage with a return in the fall.  In the last two seasons, he recorded over 1,300 yards and a touchdown on kick returns while racking up 786 yards and five touchdowns offensively.
