Prince partied with the Minnesota Lynx after WNBA title

By now you’ve probably heard the deeply saddening news about Prince, may he rest in peace. A little-known fact about the Minnesota-native is that he was a sports fan, in addition to a legendary artist.

After the Minnesota Lynx won the WNBA title, Prince tweeted in congratulations and hosted an exclusive party for the team and staff. He performed an exclusive concert for the newly-crowned champions at his recording studio/estate in Paisley Park, Chanhassen, Minnesota.

Via the Minneapolis Star Tribune, “Prince started the party with “Purple Rain” shortly after 12:30 a.m. even though the champs hadn’t arrived yet. Within a few hits including “Let’s Go Crazy,” he was showing his respect, congratulating the Lynx “on a job well done.” On the two video screens in the NPG Music Club, a newly made slide featured the Lynx logo and the words “2015 WNBA Champions.”

The Lynx won their third WNBA title in five years, this past season.
