Ray Lewis III charged with sexual assault

Coastal Carolina cornerback Ray Lewis III, son of former Baltimore Ravens linebacker Ray Lewis, has been charged with sexual assault in connection with an incident that occurred back in January, according to local NBC affiliate WMBF.

Per the report, Lewis is accused of sexually assaulting two women at an apartment complex last January, one of whom may have been drugged. The 20-year-old former Miami transfer turned himself in this morning and was charged with third-degree criminal and sexual conduct. He has since been placed on indefinite suspension from the Chanticleers.

Neither Lewis nor his father have commented on the situation, but this doesn’t look good under any circumstances. The football world on both the collegiate and professional level has taken a strong stance on violence against women and Lewis won’t be any exception. At this point, the future of his football career could be quite bleak.
