Report: Randy Gregory enters treatment facility, facing longer suspension

Dallas Cowboys defensive end Randy Gregory, who is already set to serve a four-game suspension to start the 2016-17 NFL season, has reportedly entered an undisclosed treatment facility.

The development comes after ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported Gregory has once again violated the league’s substance abuse policy and is now facing a longer suspension.

As a result, Gregory is not expected to be with the team when they kickoff training camp this week.

It’s an unfortunate bit of news for Gregory, who was drafted in the second-round of the 2015 NFL Draft. Gregory was viewed as one of the top pass rushers in his draft class, but there was concern about his mental makeup off the field and possible drug abuse in the past.

However, the Dallas Cowboys took a risk.

Now, they are once again staring at a razor thin depth chart thanks to Gregory’s suspension and a four-game suspension of the other defensive end, Demarcus Lawrence.

If that wasn’t bad enough, the Cowboys will also be without linebacker Rolando McClain, who has a ten-game suspension of his own.
