The Golden State Warriors did something historic Sunday night when they won their 72nd game of the season, tying a 20-year-old record that the Chicago Bulls set in the 1995-96 season. Scottie Pippen, who was a member of that team, took to Twitter to congratulate the team following the big win over the San Antonio Spurs.
Despite him thinking his Bulls’ team would sweep the Warriors today, Pippen is still giving them their much-deserved credit. He specifically mentioned Warriors’ head coach and former teammate Steve Kerr, who became the only person to be a part of two teams with 72 wins in a season.
Giving credit where credit is due. Congrats to @SteveKerr and his @warriors on win no. 72. They earned it tonight.

.@StephenCurry30 showed why he's the MVP. As cold blooded shooter as I've ever seen and a basketball IQ that is off the charts.

Scottie Pippen has been pretty vocal about the Warriors breaking their record. He talked about that in an interview with USA TODAY earlier this month.
“You want to see people go at (the record),” he said. “I don’t want to see that 72 stay up there and no one get close. I want to see … if they break it, let them have it. Regular season don’t win championships … Winning 70-plus games was great for us, but as my man here says (points to Ron Harper), 72-10 don’t mean a thing without the ring.”
Other members of that Bulls’ team weighed in on the Warriors last night as well.
Way-to-Go!! Congrats to GSt Warriors,SKerr&LWalton et al. The journey to 72 wins is a remarkable achievement-very impressive-now get #73.
