Seth Collins transferring from Oregon State

Oregon State oft-injured quarterback Seth Collins will transfer out of the program rather than shift into a different role on offense, according to Gina Mizell of The Oregonian.

“I thank Oregon State for a great year,” Collins said in a release, “But it is in my best interest to pursue my education and football somewhere else.”

A former three-star recruit from the San Diego area, Collins leaves Corvallis with a reputation as being someone with talent, but who cannot perform consistently due to various injuries. He appeared in only eight games as a true freshman in 2015 and completed just under 52 percent of his passes for 935 yards and six touchdowns while rushing for 575 yards and eight scores. With his departure, the Beavers will likely turn to Marcus McMaryion at quarterback.

Just where Collins ends up next remains to be seen, but he will need to sit out the 2016 season if he transfers to another FBS school. Stay tuned to Campus Sports for further updates on this developing story!
