Travonte Valentine hoping for second chance at LSU

One former LSU recruit never got his chance to see the field for the Tigers after he signed his letter of intent with the team and he now hopes that a second chance will be coming his way very soon.

Travonte Valentine was a member of LSU’s 2014 recruiting class, but he was never able to take the field after a host of academic issues hampered the start of his career. It looks like he is wanting to get the chance to see the field for the Tigers.

Valentine, now attending Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, is currently on track to be eligible to enroll at a Division I school in January of 2017. This would make him a 2017 recruit and the New Orleans Times-Picayune reported that LSU never truly left his heart.

“The current Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College student still has LSU in his heart and is hoping that he can one day play for the Tigers. Valentine messaged NOLA.com on Tuesday to notify us that he is planning on visiting Baton Rouge this weekend. When asked what his intentions were, Valentine responded, ‘just to get away and go talk with Coach (Les) Miles face to face.’

Valentine has touched base with LSU defensive line coach Ed Orgeron, who informed him that Les Miles will determine whether or not he can become a part of the program in the future.”

Valentine was a four-star member of the Tigers’ 2014 class. He was also the No. 3 defensive tackle in the country and No. 7 overall payer in the state of Florida.

He is scheduled to visit with the Tigers this weekend and if he were to re-sign with them, he would be eligible to play in the 2017 season and would likely have at least three years of eligibility left to play.
