Video: Max Hooper has special moment with father after win on senior night

If you are a fan of the emotional moments in sports, you got to see a great one on Friday.

The Oakland Golden Grizzlies held Senior Night and honored players like Max Hooper, as they clinched the No. 2 seed for the Horizon League conference tournament with a win over Detroit.

After the win, Hooper got to share a special moment with his dad.

Hooper’s father has been dealing with neuroendocrine cancer and had never seen his son play a college basketball game. So the opportunity to see his son’s final home game was something he had to do.

Hooper’s father attended the game in his hospital bed, and Hooper found him in the crowd afterwards to share a big hug.

It was fantastic to see.

“It’s something we both embody, that will, that we won’t be denied,” Max said to Mark Snyder of the Detroit Free Press. “Him being here tonight is such a moment. You can’t replicate this moment. It comes around once in a lifetime. He didn’t promise me but said I’m going to be at a game. I believed he would.”

It really was amazing to see.
